Night of Miracles By Elizabeth Berg

Quote from Night of Miracles:

"What Maddy has come to believe is that certain life circumstances make for people who walk with a psychic limp for all of their days."

Elizabeth Berg's characters in both The Story of Arthur Trulov and it's sequel, Night of Miracles, reveal how some people are able to transcend the 'psychic limp"into a catalyst for obtaining rich, meaningful lives. Throughout the novel there are snippets of Arthur's influence, and its clear his death 5 years ago, has dramatically affected the lives of both Lucille and Maddy.

In small town, Mason, Missouri, while Lucille's Baking Class business grows, Maddy becomes a mother and college student. We meet several new characters also dealing with life challenges. As with the story of Arthur Trulov, this story remains whimsical and a reminder of the importance of developing a community of neighbors.

I recommend reading Arthur Trulov first, to appreciate his warmth and kindness, which dramatically impacted both Lucille and Maddy's life. Once again, Arthur's premise, which he dubs, "ways of being' highlight the aspirations of the novel, to offer encouragement and inspiration to all who cross our path.
